Morning workouts

May 7th, 2007

6:30 AM is decidedly early to wake up and start  sweating, I generally prefer a more gentle approach to my day. This morning I had committed to pay a visit to Lisa Gaylord’s Beach Bootcamp class. The classes, held right on South beach, have developed a dedicated and growing legion of attendees. I was curious to see what the buzz was about.

Lisa is a tremendous instructor and motivator, but notoriously tough. I knew she wouldn’t let me get away with sneaking a spot in the back, as I was an invited guest, so I took my place in front, hoping she would be kind at such an early hour.

Arriving early, I have to admit I was not expecting so many people, all of them intent on having a great workout. The class started at a serious pace, but I felt very comfortable with the style. Fifty soaking minutes later, I realized what all the hype was about… the time passed so quickly, it hardly felt like work at all. I left the beach feeling focused, energized, and ready for my first breakfast meeting downtown.

I did not realize until several days later that one of the attendees was a reporter for the Miami Herald, working on a piece about elements. Being South Beach-based, our brand has the unique ability to tap into a richness of fitness and diet celebs – the article was focused upon that aspect of our fast-growing brand.
